1. As you read this passage, what thoughts come to mind? Does it seem too harsh or difficult?

2. How does the call of Christ here line up with the gospel message? How do we reconcile the two?

3. Was this type of call something you considered before coming to Christ? How have you seen the difficulties of following Christ in this world recently?

4. When you are tempted to "turn back," what keeps you from doing so?

5. Why is it important to see Jesus as our Forerunner and Supplier as we seek to follow Him in the midst of a dark world? Do you look to Him to fight the fight of faith?

6. How can we hold one another up in the midst of the war? And what does it look like to be a fighting people?
