Sunday School Fall 2024

We meet at 9:00am for a variety of Sunday School classes. Our courses are a series of informative, interactive, and challenging classes that are meant to help you in your Christian walk. Promiseland, our children's ministry for Kindergarten through fifth grade, also runs at this time in the Firehouse.

This Sunday School class session will be from September 15 - November 24

Adult Classes

Women’s Class

Book: "A Woman's Wisdom: How the Book of Proverbs Speaks to Everything" by Lydia Brownback
Location: Church Lower Level
Teachers: Carol Crispin, Michelle Lazarus, Donna Lettko, Stephanie Long, & Pat Mosely
Class Description (taken from the publisher):
Advice books are no short-lived trend, even though much of the advice parading as “wisdom” proves shallow in the long run. What we need is biblical wisdom, and even more than that we need hearts set on the One who governs all our practicalities. The book of Proverbs unlocks the key to both, helping us to face very real challenges such as:
-handling our freedom, independence, and material resources wisely
-keeping ourselves sexually pure
-practicing biblical femininity in a world that scorns us for it
-sustaining God-glorifying marriages
-elevating biblical priorities ahead of day-to-day pressures

Men’s Class

Books being used as guides: "The Manual: Getting Masculinity Right" by Al Stewart; & “Reclaiming Masculinity" by Matt Fuller
Location: Hope House, Left Side
Teachers: Jeff Crispin, Frank Lettko, Carmen Trifiletti, & Jim Weidner Class Description: The world and the Church throw out all kinds of definitions of what it means to be a man. Our interest in this class is - what do the Scriptures have to say? We will explore godly manhood, not just by defining it, but also by considering how we might live as faithful men in our world today.

Discovering Joy
*Runs during the first 4 weeks of Sunday School*

Location: Hope House, Conference Room
Teachers: Larry Lazarus
Class Description: Discovering Joy is both for those intending to pursue membership at Joy Community Fellowship and those who would like to learn more about the church. The purpose of this class is to provide an overview of the life, ministry, and beliefs of JCF. These 4 classes are part of our membership process, although attending them in no way obligates you to join. It is our hope and prayer that you will find these classes helpful, encouraging, and challenging as you consider what a great privilege and responsibility it is to be a Christian united to a body of believers.

Youth Classes

Grades 6th-12th

What is the Gospel?
Location: Hope House, Right Side
Teachers: Trey Filby, Tim Rue, & Jason Tyrell
Class Description: The Gospel is the message that saves. It is the message that builds Christ's Church. It is the only hope of the world. And yet, as much as we say that, it is often easy for churches to lose sight of what the Gospel message actually is. We want our youth (and adults) to be grounded in the truth of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. In this class, we will explore various aspects of the Gospel message and discuss them together.

Promiseland: PreK-5th

The Gospel Story Bible
Location: Firehouse
Teachers: Nancy Magin, Mark Thompson, Bill Consenza, Fran Hawthorne, Reilly Thompson & Jane Risoli
Class Description: Our young ones are blessed to be able to consider the stories of Scripture and how they point us to Jesus! We have a great group of leaders who will lead the kids in singing, Scripture memory, learning from the Word, and lots of fun!
